STORMS OF DEFENSE - SAFETY

STORMS OF DEFENSE

STORMS OF DEFENSE - THE MOVEMENT

Storms of Defense is a self-defense class to teach women to protect themselves in this dangerous world. LaVeta Cameron, also known as Lady Ninja Storm, is the founder of the school that is based on her martial arts training since the age of eleven (11).  She wants to show people, particularly women and children, how to use skilled techniques to get out of, and survive, harmful physical attacks with open hand combat and weapons.

Mission

Storms of Defense was birthed from Lady Ninja Storm’s desire for women to be empowered—to know that they can be feminine and fun, yet fierce, by possessing the capability and skills of self-defense.

“The STORM within only releases when defending oneself.”

                                                                                       ~Lady Ninja Storm

Vision

Storms of Defense’s vision is to teach women, young and old, how to defend themselves from physical attacks by building their confidence, making them aware of their surroundings, and preparing them for the attack that they don’t see coming.

Fundraiser Self-Defense Classes

During pre-production of RED LIGHT, Storms of Defense held self-defense fundraiser classes to simultaneously bring in funds for the film and teach people basic level self-defense techniques. Some of the Cast and Crew of the movie attended along with their family and friends to learn how to protect themselves. Storms of Defense instructors, LaVeta Cameron (Lady Ninja Storm), Alfonso Robinson (Hurricane), and Alfonso Robinson, Jr. (Tsunami) were there to assist, in addition to Dr. Timothy R. Robinson of Black Lion Fighting Systems from which Storms of Defense stems, and fellow instructors Malik R. Meaux and Angela Smith.

The participants walked away with more knowledge, a different mindset on safety and awareness as they were educated on defense and the principles of safety.  They were taught the three (3) options when under attack: Flight, Freeze, or Fight.

When possible, we advise you to take flight, to evade, and remove yourself from the situation. However, when that is not an option, fighting is your best bet on survival. If you freeze and do nothing at all, the chances that you will become a victim are higher.

SAFETY TIPS

LADY NINJA STORM

LaVeta Cameron, affectionately known as Storm or Lady Ninja Storm, began her journey in the martial arts world at the age of eleven on January 1, 1994. For years she had heard stories from her father, 8th Degree Black Belt, Alfonso Robinson, Sr. and his training in the arts. She wanted to continue in his footsteps and so he began to train her and her two younger brothers, Fonz and Dave. From that point on, she was taught to be disciplined and respectful in a whole new way that flourished over into every other part of her life. The foundation was laid and carefully built with hard work and training, resulting in the martial artist that she is today.

Eventually, LaVeta and her brothers started taking classes at the Robinson Academy of Martial Arts (RAMA) / Black Lion Fighting Systems, owned and run by their uncle, Timothy R. Robinson who is currently a 10th Degree Black Belt. Storm progressed through all of the martial arts ranks receiving the following belts: White, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Green, Purple, Brown, and finally her Black Belt on December 1, 2001 at the age of nineteen. Currently a martial arts Master with a 5th Degree Black Belt, Storm enjoys the arts of Shotokan, Aikijutsu, and Ninjutsu.

On October 13, 2012, Storm became the first and only female student to complete the 25-Man Challenge in the history of RAMA/Black Lion Fighting Systems. Storm achieved her goal of going through the challenge before her thirtieth birthday. She has attended many seminars, clinics, and demonstrations and absolutely loves the physical contact of the arts including self-defense and weaponry, specifically the sword and knife. What’s next for the Lady Ninja Storm, you may ask? She has a few films in the works where she can combine her love of acting with her love of martial arts.

In 2019, Ms. Cameron started her own self-defense classes, mainly geared towards women, called Storms of Defense. If you are interested in learning more about these classes that encourage women to be Feminine, Fun & Fierce while protecting themselves, please email her directly at Storm@StormsOfDefense.com

SAFETY TIPS from Lady Ninja Storm

Safety Tips for the Winter

CODE RED LIGHT

In real life among the Cast and Crew, the term "red light" has become the code phrase to remind each other to be safe, or to not put themselves in certain situations that could possibly lead them to become victims of human trafficking. For example, whenever they see a van, they always say, "red light," to each other as a warning.

WATCH YOUR DRINK

Be careful when you are out in public having fun. Sometimes women, and even men, have been known to be drugged by having narcotics slipped into their drinks. They are taken advantage of, easily becoming vulnerable to harmful situations that can lead to human trafficking, rape, or even murder.

KEEP CHILDREN SAFE

Watch over your children closely. Traffickers come in all forms and may be people that you know personally. It is a harsh reality that you may not want to think about but you can never be too careful. Traffickers will try to lure your children because they seem nice and comfortable being with them. You must always be your children's biggest advocate and keep them safe at all times.

SAFETY IN NUMBERS

When you are carpooling and you are dropping someone off, it is good to wait until they not only get to their door, but also inside before pulling off. You never know if someone may sneak up behind them and they need your help. There is power and safety in numbers, so be careful going out alone and always be alert and conscious of your surroundings. Let's help keep each other safe.
